I’m a school teacher, but it was after I became a parent that I was inspired to write for children.  I love rediscovering the classics with my children and they have reminded me how much I used to love reading for pleasure as a child.

This is my second blog and here I want to explore what inspired me to read as a child, why poetry is so important to children – stuff I have learned through teaching 11 – 18 year olds, and to try and find my own writing voice.

The King of Neverland is a poem inspired by Peter Pan and Tennyson’s beautiful narrative poem The Lady of Shalott – a poem I love to read aloud! It celebrates the power of the imagination and childhood.

Thanks for taking the time to read my blog.  I’m aiming to update regularly.    🙂
